Refreshed classrooms a win for Holy Spirit College

Students and staff at Holy Spirit College in Bellambi have been enjoying a welcome improvement this school year, with a full refurbishment of Block B completed in time for the start of Term 1.

Member for Cunningham, Alison Byrnes MP recently took a tour of the upgraded building to see first-hand how it has improved learning and comfort for the classes which call this block home.

Holy Spirit College received $835,000 under the Australian Government’s Capital Grants Program to create four purpose-built classrooms, each with integrated breakout spaces to support small group activities and specifically equipped to teach life skills such as cooking, cleaning, dishwashing and personal care.

The refurbishments also saw the installation of staff space, storage for specialised equipment, teaching aids and essential resources for program delivery.

“It was fantastic to hear straight from students and teachers about the difference these upgrades have made to their daily school programs,” Alison Byrnes said.

“Good quality facilities, along with the kindness and encouragement of teachers, help to foster a love of learning and motivation to fully participate in school life – providing a fit-for-purpose place to work, teach and learn,” she said.

Ms Byrnes also acknowledged the dedication of the Principal and staff to a good quality learning space, with the renovations taking place over the summer school holidays.

“I want to thank everyone involved in getting this really special project together in time for the start of the school year, it is absolutely clear that this has meant a lot to all the students and staff using these classrooms every day,” Alison Byrnes said.

“The Australian Government is committed to providing all schools with appropriate funding so that all students, including those at Holy Spirit College, get the best possible education.”
